These testers were developed with the sole objective of identifying synthetic Moissanite (silicon carbide). Presidium's Moissanite Tester II  tests for electrical conductivity to identify Moissanite. The measuring procedure is simple - touch the high sensitive measuring probe made of special grade polymer to the gemstone and an instantaneous reading is provided.

Note: Using a Moissanite tester is recommended after a positive test for Diamond is obtained with a conventional diamond tester such as the DiamondMate-A and the DiamondMate-C.

The Reflectivity Meter ( PRM ) accurately measures the quality and quantity of light reflected through the stone and gives you an instant reading of its reflective index. Clear and coloured gemstones may be identified with this instrument because the Reflectivity Index of a well polished gemstone is directly related to its Refractive Index by a simple mathematical algorithm.

For easy reference, a Reflectivity Chart listing the most common diamond simulants and diamond is on the tester itself - Synthetic Spinel, Synthetic Sapphire, Y.A.G., High Zircon, G.G.G., Cubic Zirconia, Strontium Titanate, Diamond and Synthetic Moissanite.

The Presidium Gem Tester / Colour Stone Estimator provides a quick, easy, laboratory proven way to identify diamond and separate the most popular coloured gem stones from one another. This valuable tool can eliminate human error when identifying precious gems. The Presidium Gem Tester's accurate performance is based on the fact that different gem stones conduct heat at different rates. Simply touch the Gem Tester's sophisticated thermoelectric probe to the surface of any mounted or loose stone and the specially calibrated dial will show you the relative heat conductivity of the material.

The Presidium Gem Tester / Color Stone Estimator Is made under rigid quality standards. It is easy to operate and convenient to own. The light weight portable unit is powered by two (2) AA 1.5 V batteries (not included) or the AC adapter provided. Calibration is made easy with the two test discs mounted into the frame. Note: The Gem Tester will not discriminate between diamond and moissanite, and it will not discriminate between natural and synthetic stones with the same mineral structure (ie. a genuine ruby and a man-made ruby). Further examination with other methods is recommended for final analysis. The use of this instrument is restricted to the gemstones listed above and will assist the jeweller to identify may confusing stones in the market.
